Event Details

Special presentation from Adam Lashinsky, senior editor at large, Fortune magazine
“So much of what Apple does stands decades of business teaching on its head, because they just don’t do things the way other companies do. The rest of the business world might want to pay attention.”
– Adam Lashinsky
What is it that has made Apple so successful? What are the values that made it so special? How can you learn from the company's journey? Adam Lashinsky, Fortune Magazine's Senior Editor-at-large, will be presenting his observations from the past fifteen years on a fly-by visit to London during a special TechMeetups event.
Adam will spend his talk focusing on the secret systems, tactics and leadership strategies that allowed Steve Jobs and his company to churn out hit after hit and inspire a cult-like following for its products.
During the second part of the presentation session, we'll be joined by Horace Dediu, Founder of Asymco.com, who has sometimes been described as The Outsider Apple analyst. He will provide some commentary on Adam's presentation using insight that he has gathered from the analysis of Apple's data.
This will be a unique evening where you'll hear from two of the most distinguished observers of Apple - an insider and outsider - sharing their insight into what factors have made this company the great success of our time.

More about Adam's new book
Completely objective, INSIDE APPLE is based upon numerous interviews conducted by author Adam Lashinsky, a senior editor-at-large for Fortune magazine, who knows Apple inside out – in 2008 he predicted that Tim Cook, then an unknown, would eventually succeed Steve Jobs as CEO.
- Adam reveals exclusive information as to how Apple innovates, deals with its suppliers and is handling the transition in the post-Jobs era.
- Discover concepts such as the “DRI” (Apple’s practice of assigning a Directly Responsible Individual to every task) and the Top 100 (an annual ritual in which 100 up-and-coming executives were tapped for a secret retreat with company founder Steve Jobs).
- Universal lessons for all those interested in leadership, innovation, product design, marketing and business as well as those just fascinated by the inner workings of Apple and Jobs’s management style.
Adam Lashinsky covers Silicon Valley and Wall Street for Fortune magazine, where he has been on staff since 2001. Based in San Francisco, he has written cover stories for the magazine on Apple, Hewlett-Packard, and Google, as well as in-depth articles on Wells Fargo, Intel, Oracle, eBay, Twitter, and the venture-capital industry.
In addition to working as Fortune’s senior editor at large, he is a weekly panellist on the Fox News Channel’s Cavuto on Business program on Saturday mornings. He also co-chairs Fortune’s annual technology conference, Fortune Brainstorm Tech, and is a seasoned speaker and panel moderator.

TechMeetups.com
TechMeetups has been setup to create a global network of Tech communities from San Francisco to Sydney. Our goal is to create a global Tech cluster of over 50 inter-connected Tech communities by 2013.
We started by launching the London Silicon Roundabout Tech community in Dec 2010 and since then it has become one of the the fastest growing Tech communities in London. We started this group in order to bring together Startups, entrepreneurs, investors, techies and webbies in and around London’s Silicon Roundabout & Tech City area.
Following the success of London’s Silicon Roundabout tech community we launched The Cambridge Silicon Fen in UK and two other communities in the US - The New York Silicon Alley & The Dallas Silicon Prairie as part of our expansion plans.
Membership to our communities is free and anyone thinking about doing their own Startup and wanting to bounce ideas off each other, meet potential partners or investors in their city or even connect with like minded individuals in other parts of the world are welcome to join our groups!
We are passionate about Startups & feel that Startups need all the help they can get. To help them further we launched the Techmeetups Startup Mentoring Program to help Startups with advice, mentoring or hands on acceleration programs. We believe this would help Startups position themselves better in the market, present to our Investment Panel at our regular Investor day to raise Funding and to Big Business at our upcoming event ' Big Business meets Startup' to land those big deals!
We have also launched TechStartupJobs to help with the acute talent shortage Startups face. Visit TechStartupJobs if you would like to post your latest job openings or browse through some of the hottest Startup jobs from the area.
We work with local colleges & universities to help bridge the gap between the local talent and the increasing number of open Tech positions in the area.
